A recent trip to the Nubble Lighthouse located in York, Maine. The lighthouse is situated on Maine's notoriously dangerous rocky coast. The Nubble Lighthouse was formerly known as the "Knubble Lighthouse" and was built on July 1st 1879 after President Rutherford B. Hayes appropriated the money to build it on a "nub" of land. In 1939 the US Coast Guard assumed the responsibilities of the location and dropped the K from the name making it Nubble Lighthouse.
